C' and Taste

After the visit to the Carmelite nuns in Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac last Sunday - Lee, Candy, and I went straight to Angeles, Pampanga to eat late lunch at C' Italian Dining. Lee suggested this place and said it's a must place to eat. That got me excited, because my main goal for this year is to visit as much places here in the Philippines that I haven't been to, and it was definitely my first time to set foot in Angeles, Pampanga.

It took us about an hour and a half to reach the place. As soon as we entered, I am immediately mesmerized by the place. I love the look of the place, even though it's a bit small. Well, according to Lee, the restaurant is already expanding, and actually, there was a much bigger space out back.

We let Lee ordered the food for us. Here were her choices:

This one wasn't part of our order actually, this was a complementary food while we wait for our orders. The bread was still hot and fresh - very soft and delicious, especially when dipped to the pesto.

Paolo Miguel Panizza (parma ham slices, artichokes and mushroom served with arugula and alfalfa) >>> I had a great time eating this one, it's like eating a very thin crust pizza in a unique way. The bitterness of arugula and the saltiness and cheesiness (if there's such a word) made each bite so heavenly. The alfalfa I didn't like because it tasted like turnips freshy uprooted. =)

Mozzarella in Carozza >>> This dish was no longer part of the menu, but Lee personally asked if we can have this one, and after consulting with the owner / head chef (who was very kind and accomodating), we were able to taste this one. From the looks of it, this one is made of blocks of mozzarella cheese baked (or fried) with sauteed crushed tomatoes and mushrooms. This was a very tasty, very delicious dish! Now I know why Lee wanted us to taste this one, it was so great! I love the mix of the cheese and the tomatoes. I hope the chef will put this one back in the menu.

Edited 041208 - Lee sent me the link to the restaurant's website and thru it I found out that this one is golden fried mozzarella slices, served on pomodore sauce topped with fresh mushroom slices. Hmmm... now that I've got the description of it, it made the dish more tasty!

Spaghetti Frutti di Mare (salmon, mahimahi, prawns, and mussels sauteed in olive oil with garlic, olives, and capers enticed with a hint of fresh pomodore) >>> The panizza and the mozzarella made us so full already, good thing we ordered one pasta dish and had it divided for the three of us. But, even if my tummy's about to burst, I still enjoyed this one. The fish were so fresh, it tasted like sea! The olives I really didn't like - it was so sour. But of course, it was still worth the try. Over all, the dish was so good - although I didn't like the oiliness. I know it's olive oil, but still, it's oil.

Each one of us paid 650 pesos for all the foods we've eaten. Now, it's not the usual bill that I pay from eating, but taking into consideration that this experience posed so many firsts - first time in Angeles, first time to eat at a very high-end resto, first time to dine with Lee and Candy, first time to eat all those foods (except the pesto) ... I could say it was very worth it. Well, the prices are really fair, it's just that I am a very thrift person, that's why I could say that I found it a bit expensive. But don't mind me when I say that, it just came from my own point of view, because really, I am a very thrift person.

By the way, did I say that the head chef was a very accomodating person? He really was. He went to different tables to exchange some chit-chat, and in one table, he even asked this beautiful girl if she would want to go to the kitchen and help him cook. It was so sweet of him to do that, too bad I forgot his whole name and I forgot to have a picture with him. Hmmm... maybe we can do that next time.

When in Angeles, Pampanga, this place is a must-see. The foods are really yummy, and I seriously am hoping we could get back soon - maybe when we do the scrapbook workshop with the Carmelite nuns? Why not? I am already setting aside money for it.

So... what does this gastronomic experience made us?
... bloated yet happy eaters.

To Lee - thanks for telling us about the place. Dining with you and Candy was really awesome. Let's do this again, okay?

Waaahhh...nauna ka pa nag=blog about my favorite restaurant than me. The Chef/Owner is Cris Locher (he's actually Swiss), and yes, you should have had a photo taken with him. Maybe next time. And next time we definitely have to try that cold yogurt place in Angeles, I have the directions now. :-)

Cool! C' Italian Dining is the best restaurant in Angeles City pampanga, and one of the best in the Philippines.

I'm from Angeles and I am so happy that C' is getting the proper reputation it deserves.

I've ate there twice already and I have yet to try a dish I didn't like. Really fantastic!
